IBM’s Watson has been integrated into several enterprise solutions to help companies comply with GDPR and CCPA by automating data discovery and reporting. According to IBM’s 2024 AI and Privacy Compliance Report, these AI-driven solutions have reduced the time needed to manage data privacy compliance by up to 60%.

“AI is not just a regulatory requirement but a strategic advantage for companies that prioritize customer trust,” remarks Elizabeth White, a legal tech expert at Harvard Law School. “Those who adopt AI tools for privacy compliance are better positioned in the market.”

While AI presents innovative methods for preserving privacy, challenges remain. AI models, like any technology, can be exploited or misconfigured, potentially leading to unintended privacy breaches. Therefore, human oversight is crucial in deploying AI for privacy preservation.

“We must not see AI as a silver bullet for privacy,” warns Miguel Santos, a cybersecurity advisor at the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). “It should complement human judgment and ethical considerations, not replace them.”
